About John Aughenbaugh

John is the owner and sole proprietor of Straight A Woodworks, LLC. He is originally from Pennsylvania and earned his B.S.E. in Technology Education at Millersville University in 2010. He relocated to the Williamsburg area in 2011 to begin a career as a High School Technology Education Teacher and  has taught at schools in Williamsburg and New Kent. Recently, he joined the adjunct faculty at Old Dominion University as the Technology Education Content Instructor for the Career Switcher Program. He is proud to have been recognized as the 2024 Region One Teacher of the Year.

John has been working with his hands both as a hobby, and professionally, nearly his entire life. With over 20 years of woodworking experience,  and over a decade of being a shop and technology teacher, his talents have developed well beyond the scope of filling his leisure time. He has become an expert in computer aided design and manufacturing in addition to his mastery of traditional  methods including both power tools and hand tools.

Hobbies and Interests: John, his wife Katlin, their daughter Lydia, son Phillip, and Charlie the dog enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, hiking, and enjoying local breweries. John enjoys fishing, woodworking, and engaging in creative product design.
